Perhaps it’s fitting that the order of the NBA draft is determined by several bouncing bingo balls. Just one more opportunity for conspiracy theorists to prove that the sport is rigged. The only thing missing was Charles Barkley being toted away by Vegas goons when his Draft Lottery wager didn’t pan out.

For the first time since Barry Bonds could still fit into a one-size-fits-all baseball cap, the Pittsburgh Pirates aren’t scrambling to find offense. Some emerging newcomers combined with rejuvenated veterans like Jason Bay and Xavier Nady have the Bucs banging with the best of ‘em in the National League.
